We are proud that Nybo Workwear is among the few textile brands that have achieved the Green Button certification. This is not only a symbol of our commitment to sustainability, but also proof that we now uphold the industry’s strictest supplier requirements – and that we actively work to ensure a responsible supply chain from start to finish.

The Green Button is a state-recognized certification introduced by the German government, which sets strict requirements for both social and environmental standards throughout the entire supply chain. This means that all parts of our production and supply network are reviewed with a level of scrutiny that ensures transparency, fairness, and responsibility. The Green Button is a certification that not only evaluates our products, but also places strong emphasis on our responsible business practices.

Strict supplier requirements and due diligence

With the achievement of the Green Button certification, Nybo Workwear has now implemented the strictest supplier requirements – also known as due diligence. The due diligence process is the cornerstone of our work to ensure that all our suppliers comply with the requirements set by the Green Button regarding both working conditions and environmental considerations. We carry out systematic assessments and monitoring of our suppliers, including:

  • Continuous supplier assessments: We evaluate our suppliers based on their practices in occupational health and safety, environmental management, and social responsibility. This includes assessing working conditions, safe workplaces, and the protection of workers’ rights.

  • Commitment to sustainability: We work closely with our suppliers to ensure environmentally responsible practices. This includes everything from proper chemical management to reducing waste and CO₂ emissions.

  • Transparency and monitoring: We ensure that our supply chain is transparent and accessible for verification. This means we know the origin of the materials we use and can document the working conditions of our partners. This is part of our active effort to ensure responsible sourcing and sustainable practices.

Improved opportunities with Grüner Knopf

The Grüner Knopf certification provides us with improved opportunities to collaborate in a structured way with our suppliers. The certification functions as a framework tool that makes it easier for us, together with our suppliers, to ensure living wages, anonymous grievance mechanisms for employees, and targeted actions addressing environmental impact and pollution. This structure helps us maintain a responsible supply chain and makes it easier to implement improvements that have a positive impact on both working conditions and the environment.

First step toward living wages for textile workers

The Grüner Knopf certification represents the first step toward ensuring that all our suppliers pay textile workers a living wage rather than only the legal minimum wage. As part of Grüner Knopf, we have already supported a Chinese supplier in documenting living wages, and we have developed both a calculation template and a methodological guide that all our suppliers are required to follow. This work helps ensure that employees receive fair wages that cover their basic needs and prevents them from relying on excessive overtime or additional jobs in order to maintain a decent standard of living.

At Nybo Workwear, we see the Grüner Knopf certification as an important milestone—but not the final destination. We are continuously working to improve our supply chain and develop even more sustainable products.
